Indianapolis, IN – In support of the Shepherd Community Center – a faith-based, inner-city ministry that operates on the near Eastside of Indianapolis – Ricker Oil presented the charity with a check for $10,000.
The money is part of the BP Fueling Communities program, which provides grants to local organizations that are nominated by BP’s Branded Marketers, like Ricker’s, to support the communities in which they do business. Ricker’s was awarded a total of $30,000 to distribute to charities and other not-for-profit organizations throughout the state.
“We are grateful to BP for the opportunity to support organizations like the Shepherd Center which make a tangible difference in their towns,” said Jay Ricker, Chairman of Ricker Oil. “Donations such as these allow us to touch the communities where we do business in a more personal way.”
Jay and Nancy Ricker presented the donation to representatives of the Shepherd Community Center on Wednesday.
Shepherd Community Center works with neighborhood youth and their families ”to break the cycle of poverty on the near eastside of Indianapolis by engaging and empowering the community to cultivate healthy children, strong families, and vibrant neighborhoods through a Christ-centered approach that meets the spiritual, physical, emotional, and academic needs of our neighbors.”
The remaining $20,000 was awarded to The Salvation Army and Born Learning, a resource for early childhood development.
